| Good service, no "bait and switch" |
| (March 30, 2009) I used Austin's Airport Fast Park last weekend.
The "bait and switch" report was not true for me. The car was there for 2 days 7 hours 24 minutes by the receipt. If the hourly rates had been usedfor the partial day, I would have paid $7.50*2 (days) + $15 (at $1 per half hour) = $30. Instead, I was charged $7.50*3 (days) = $22.50. As the man in the booth said, if you stay over 3 1/2 hours on a new day, they charge the full day instead of the hourly rate, because the full day is cheaper.
Go to http://www.airportfastpark.com/ to look for and print an Internet coupon. It shaved off about $1 per day for me. Present it on exit. With tax, it's $7.50 / day as opposed to Bergstrom's long-term rates of $7 / day.
I hadn't used off-airport parking before. A major hailstorm came thru 2 days before my trip, so it was comforting that their covered parking uses metal. (Austin's The Parking Spot covers with tents. Long-term AUS airport parking has no cover at all.)
It's a little farther for the shuttle bus to drive. But on this trip I was picked up faster than my usual waits when using AUS's own lots. Also, I was picked up at my car. Also also, they gave me a ticket with my place number written on it; when I returned, they took me directly to it with no waits at bus stops.

| Bait and switch rates |
(July 10, 2007) Fast Park is easy and convenient. But be aware: they advertise daily rates ($7 or so) but where they get you is on the fractional days, where the cost is something like $1 per *hour*. So if you stay for 3 days, the cost is $21. If you stay for 2 days and 15 hours (leave in the morning, come back in the evening) the cost is about $29! In some cases it's just cheaper (and easier and faster) to park at the airport covered parking.
Pros: Good covered parking, good service, friendly people. And you get a bottle of water when you leave.
Cons: Bait-and-switch rates that make the actual cost MUCH higher than what is advertised. |

| (June 18, 2007) Pulled in, found a space, shuttle picked up me & my bags at my car, & unloaded me at the airport (4:30 am). When I flew back in, I waited at the designated pick up area, shuttle picked up me & my bags & delivered me to the bumper of my car & unloaded all my bags once again. (1 am) Great SErvice! |
