However, the airport itself is convenient to the city, only three miles outside of downtown Albuquerque. In fact, ABQ airport is the largest in the state, with over 5.8 million passengers passing through its gates in 2009. Just east of Interstate 25, Albuquerque International Sunport is easily accessible. If you’re coming from Santa Fe or from southern New Mexico, take I-25 to the Sunport Blvd exit. Those seeking public transportation can use local bus service from ABQ Ride, Albuquerque’s public transit system. Other transit options include shuttle service or train service from Amtrak and the New Mexico Rail Runner, which runs from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Nonstop service is available from multiple airlines to nearby domestic destinations, such as American Airlines offering flights to Chicago, Delta to Atlanta, and Frontier to Denver. However, Southwest Airlines has the most flights from ABQ Sunport, with nonstop flights to Baltimore, Seattle, Dallas, Los Angeles, Portland and Tampa. ABQ Sunport has one terminal split into two concourses, with most airlines using Concourse B, including United, Delta, Frontier, American Airlines and US Airways. Concourse A is utilized solely by Southwest Airlines.
