Undergoing a $15 million expansion, Burlington International Airport (BTV) is located in South Burlington, Vermont, only ten minutes away from Lake Champlain and just an hour’s drive from Vermont ski resorts. With over 640,000 passengers boarded from BTV, the airport serves the state of Vermont as well as surrounding areas in New England and Canadian cities like Montreal. In addition to commercial service, Burlington Airport is also home to two military facilities: the Burlington Air National Guard Base and the Vermont Army National Guard.
While Burlington is not as large as other New England airports, it is just off I-89, which goes from the Vermont-Massachusetts border to Canada. If you’re traveling from Syracuse, take routes to Iâ€”189 and exit Dorset Street. Those coming from Montreal will need to drive south on I-89 to Williston Road. Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) connects Burlington International Airport passengers to the city of Burlington and the University of Vermont from BTV.
While there is no hub airline residing at BTV, major air carriers such as United, Delta, JetBlue and US Airways are all fly out of Burlington. Connecting flights include nonstop service to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Washington DC. BTV airport only has one terminal used for all airlines, with gates divided on two floors and split up amongst airlines.
