Parking at DFW

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the busiest airway in the Lone Star State. It is the primary gateway to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. DFW is also about the size of Manhattan Island and sees over 69 million passengers a year. If you plan on visiting this beast in the near future you will want to plan in advance. So if you are considering some long-term parking, planning out your transportation, or expecting a lengthy layover here is everything you need to know.

DFW parking options come in three flavors: terminal parking, express parking, and remote parking. Prices vary from $10 dollars to $31 dollars and depend entirely on how close you want to be the airport. Remote parking is the cheapest option. It is also the furthest away and requires a shuttle. Express parking is closer and bears the middle rates. It offers both covered and uncovered parking with close proximity to DFW. Terminal parking is the most expensive and does exactly as its name implies. It offers parking options directly at the terminal. Additional charges accrue for valet services that extend from a simple wash and wax to a full oil change. If you are planning to park for a long time DFW airport parking may not be the best choice. Luckily, there are cheaper rates offer by off-site locations.

Off-site lots are a bit further away from DFW but provide the best rates for long-term service. Long-term parking can be had for as low as $5 dollars a day. Companies also offer additional amenities like charging for electric cars, luggage service, newspapers, car wash, or free bottled water. Some even provide the same valet services you find at the airport. All of them bear top-line security service with 24-hour shuttle service. Airport hotels also provide a long-term parking option as they will hold autos for guests who stay a night. The overall wealth of off-site choices can be a bit daunting but that is why we are here.

Getting To DFW

A unique factor of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport is its wide range of public transit options. It is serviced by three commuter rail lines as well as public buses. Transit is managed by Dallas Area Rapid Transit or DART for short. Commuter rails connect directly to DFW terminals offering the only straight, non-stop connection to the airport. Essentially, individuals boarding the Orange Line or T&P Station in both downtown Dallas or Fort Worth can connect to the DFW Airport station. The airport station takes them directly to terminals A or B. In tandem with regular public bus routes, DART provides convenient public access throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

As for road travel, DFW airport sits almost directly in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth. DFW is serviced by the International Parkway, a spur of Highway 97. International Parkway cuts right through DFW's center and connects the airport to two highways and three freeways. This allows easy access by car, public bus, shuttle, and contracted auto service. The airport has curbside service for those being dropped off. It also has various parking options should you drive yourself. If you want the convenience of someone else doing the driving there are many options available.

DFW is served by various taxi companies as well as online services like Lyft and Uber. It is also no stranger to private services like limos and luxury sedans. DFW is also served by standard shuttle service as well. Travelers can work with a number of shuttle companies to rent public or private vans. So whether traveling alone or with a group, there is a transportation option for you.

Getting Around DFW

As aforementioned, DFW airport is the size of Manhattan. It is the second-largest airway in the U.S. DFW has five terminals with a combined total of around 160 gates. Luckily, navigating Dallas/Fort Worth is not very hard thanks to the Skylink inter-terminal train. Skylink can ferry passengers across the breadth of the airport in around eight minutes. This allows for easy travel between terminals and provides travelers ease of access to eating, leisure, and shopping options.

When visiting DFW there is plenty to do. Terminal D has a built-in walking path for travelers looking for a little exercise. It also offers a 24-hr Yoga Studio located between terminals B and D. Terminals A, B, C, and D have interactive play areas for the kiddos called Junior Flyer Clubs. A great way to wear the little ones out before a flight so they nap during travel, or a much-needed stretching of little legs for layovers. DFW has plenty of artwork spread about for perusal such as paintings, sculptures, and floor medallions from an assortment of 30 artists. There is an express spa at terminal D for travelers who want some pampering, a six-acre observation area on the north side of the airport, and even a 36-hole golf course located on airport property. You may not want to leave once you get there.
