GETTING TO KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is located 15 miles northwest of downtown Kansas City in Platte County, Missouri. The airport has a relatively remote location compared to other metropolitan facilities. The largest carriers at MCI are Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines.
MCI is located right off of I-29 and I-435. Because there is no consolidated main terminal, it is important to know your airline if being dropped off at the airport. Passengers can be dropped off right at the terminal building of their airline. Because of its relatively remote location, taxi rates to and from the airport are not inexpensive. A one-way fare to and from the downtown area will cost about $50. The fare to and from the Country Club Plaza is a little over $60. You will spend around $70 to get to the suburban locations in Kansas.
RideKC runs a bus service to and from the airport every day of the week. The provider accepts cash or the 31-Day Bus Passes. A one-way ticket to or from MCI is $1.50. There are also a variety of private shuttle services that operate out of MCI and serve regional cities, including Lawrence, Kansas, Columbia, Missouri, and a host of nearby military bases.
PARKING AT KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Because of its remote location and lack of public transportation options, many passengers find it easier to drive themselves and use the many Kansas City International Airport parking options. The airport's online parking fee estimator allows you to see your options in all of the onsite lots. The premium valet service costs a maximum of $27 per day. All that you need to do is drop your vehicle to the valet stand, located in the middle of the Terminal B near Gate 40.
MCI parking is also available at the two terminal garages, located within walking distance of where you need to originate your travel. These lots cost $23 per 24-hour period. There are also two Economy Lots that deliver an affordable option for those who do not mind not being within walking distance of the terminals. These lots cost $7.50 for each 24-hour period. A free shuttle service ferries passengers between their terminal of choice and the lot. The shuttles run approximately every 20 minutes.
For Kansas City International Airport long-term parking, you may also want to consider the many partner lots located just offsite of the facility. You will find the best parking deals through our network of secure lots by entering your travel parameters into our useful search system. Parking at Kansas City International Airport does not have to be expensive or challenging. Our reservation system allows you to find a cheap option with the convenience of door-to-door shuttle service to and from the lot and your airline's terminal building.
GETTING AROUND INSIDE KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
The airport consists of three terminals, but only two are currently in operation. Terminal A is closed for renovation with travelers using only Terminal B and Terminal C. If you need to transfer between the two terminals, you must go through security again. Free Wi-Fi is available in both terminals and it is easy to find charging for your mobile device should you need to power up.
MCI offers a host of traveler conveniences to its passengers. Terminal C boasts two nursing mothers' rooms. For passengers traveling with animals, there are pet relief areas located at each end of Terminals B and C. In addition, you will find an animal relief area inside a departure lounge in Terminal C.
If hunger strikes while waiting to board, you can check out the innovative offerings at the Pork & Pickle, located next to Gate B41. Also inside Terminal B, you will find the grab-and-go selections at the California Pizza Kitchen kiosk. Over in Terminal C, passengers enjoy the offerings at the Great American Bagel & Bake or Marche.
